Our Shore2Shore Excursions guide will meet you at the Port of Bergen where we board an air-conditioned coach to take a guided tour of Bergen.
Bergen is known as the capital of the Western Norway and is the second largest city in Norway with a population of about 250,000 inhabitants. Located under the protection of the seven hills and surrounded by tranquil fjords, Bergen is located in a spectacular natural setting.
With a long history of navigation and commerce, Bergen is known for being a city of culture. It was the capital of Norway and the center of medieval German Hanseatic League. A charming city located in beautiful surroundings, Bergen is a real gem for lovers of nature and history.
We start the tour with a walk along the Bryggen, German Wharf with its buildings and streets. The boardwalk offers an intimate picture of how people lived in the Middle Ages. These buildings have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Today Bryggen is a fascinating honeycomb active workshops, where painters and craftsmen produce fine and original features. We will continue our tour in the famous Fishermen's Market and Flores.
We will continue with a tour of the city by bus into suburban areas to see how people live in Bergen today.
If passengers want to, we will end our tour in Bergen with a walk up to Mount Fløien with a funicular.
The trip takes about 8 minutes and there we will enjoy a magnificent view over Bergen and its surroundings. Return to the center with the funicular.
We will then return to the Port of Bergen so you can re-join your ship for onward passage to your next port of call.
We trust you had a wonderful day with us and we shall look forward to seeing you again soon.
